“The Obelisk” is a luxurious 5-star hotel from the Sofitel group, blending ancient Egyptian heritage with Art Deco style. The hotel rises to 45 levels, featuring 500 opulent rooms and suites, 97 fully furnished apartments, and a variety of public areas including a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, restaurants, bars, and a conference center.
The project spans over 15,000 square meters of stone surfaces, incorporating a range of sophisticated elements. This includes special waterjet designs in both organic and geometric shapes crafted from various materials. Stone cladding was applied to the unique structures and furniture within the apartments, while vein-matching wall claddings were used in the standard rooms and suites. Additionally, special stone elements with backlighting enhance the public areas of the hotel.
One of the most challenging aspects of the project was the 1,500 square meters of book-matched flooring in the main lobby, which required meticulous attention due to the distinctive nature of the Greek Vendome material that was used. To achieve these intricate designs, over 1,000 cubic meters of stone blocks were carefully selected from quarries in Italy, Greece, and Portugal by our team of qualified and experienced inspectors.
